The Great Minnesota Get Together!

Well...I am going to assume that most of you don't know that Minnesota has one of the BEST state fairs. In fact, going to the state fair in any other state may seem sort of... 'not cool'! In Minnesota it is sort of a sign of the arrival of Fall, that winter is around the corner. That school is about to begin and that the hot days of summer will be scarce for yes, another seven months. So we go. We go to eat the yummy roasted corn, to slide the BIG SLIDE, to see a great headliner at the grandstand or just people watch. Whatever the case may be, you go. Even those who said they would NEVER go to the state fair, have gone this year. Why? Well it's just not so bad. In fact, it's kind of fun. Bizarre food on a stick. In fact, almost anything on a stick! My favorite, a home made salted nut roll dipped in semi-sweet chocolate on a stick! Ummmmm the roasted corn. The interesting people that come from all over to stroll the state fair....'just sayin'.

The highlight of this year was watching a calf be born in the 'Miracle of Birth Building' with my niece and nephew. Stephen almost fainted and Sarah may or may not want to be a veterinarian.....were not sure now! You should have seen the look I got from my sister after I told her that! Someones got to introduce the real 'Bird's and Bee's' to them!
